The document below shows how we teach Reading, through reading a carefully selected range of texts.
We follow the order of the Read, Write Inc programme for phonics, and the children will bring home Read, Write Inc books until their phonics knowledge is secure. We have adapted the way that we teach the scheme to make it work even better for our children.
When they are ready children will also bring home a book which also requires them to read words which cannot be phonetically sounded out.
We follow the Twinkl objectives for writing. Children are taught the skills for their year group (shown in the above documents) throughout the year and are then assessed against these objectives at the end of each term. If they are not working at their year group level (could be above or below) they will also be taught objectives from other year groups.
