Mrs Lillycrop’s Reading Challenge Update
We are currently in Shropshire and on our way to Cheshire.
Please remember to write in your child’s home communication book when your child has read their school book, a book from home or even practised their sounds.
We had a VERY special visitor!
Christmas Jumper Day
Do you like our bright and colourful Christmas jumpers? They look amazing!
Santa’s Sleigh
Making Santa’s sleigh with crates, cones, tyres and bricks. The children had some fantastic ideas!
Christmas Cards
We have been busy making Christmas cards.
Christmas Decoration Day

Decorating the school Christmas tree
All the children in Nightingales placed a bauble on our Christmas tree.
Break The Rules Day
Today children were asked to bring in food or drink for a PTA hamper. Each class was given a certain colour of food/drink to bring in. Nightingales colours were orange and red. In exchange for items children were allowed to wear non uniform, have extra playtime and eat an unhealthy snack at playtime.
Celebrating Birthdays
We have been learning about why we celebrate birthdays. As part of this we have spoke about what you may buy, what you may expect, made birthday cards, wrote birthday party lists and made birthday invitations.
Children In Need
To support Children In Need this year we had the theme of ‘Wear Spots’ and to bring in a teddy bear.
Remembrance Day
We have been learning why we celebrate Remembrance Day. We have made poppies by using red wool and wrapping it around a poppy template. As well as this we also created poppy pictures using mark making. Thank you to Mrs Ablitt for the school assembly where we learnt about her Grandad who fought in the war.
Last Day Of Term
As it’s the last day of term we all wore non uniform. With Halloween just around the corner a lot of children wore Halloween themed outfits.
Reading Cafe
Thank you to all the grown ups who came to our first cafe of the school year. It was a really fun morning.
Autumn Walk
We went on an autumn walk around the school grounds to see how nature is changing now we are in autumn.
Diwali
Using a blackberry and water squashed together to make a dark liquid. We used this as a substitute to henna to make mehndi hand designs as part of learning about Diwali this week.
Food
We have been learning about healthy eating by trying various foods including pineapple, carrots and other fruits and vegetables using our taste sense.
Pumpkin Lifecycle
We have been learning about the lifecycle of a pumpkin.
Nature Kitchen
We asked the children what their favourite food was and asked them to recreate their favourite food in our Nature Kitchen. The children used sand, bark, stones, pine cones and water as well as all the kitchen utensils to help them.
Photo Frames
We have been busy using buttons and sequins to make photo frames.
Funny Bones
We read the book ‘Funny Bones’ as part of learning about ‘Me’. We used white straws to make our own skeletons.
Our Faces
As part of learning about ‘Me’ we used mirrors to look at our facial feature. We made pictures of our faces using a paper plate, mixed paint, wool for hair, eyes, a stick for a nose and red wool for our lips.
