This week I have chosen this lovely Korean Folktale as our end of day story book. It is about a little boy name Chin, and his luck changes when he meets a mysterious monk. The old monk gifts Chin the most unusual things such as a mat, spoon and a pair of chopsticks. None of which, are as ordinary as they seem....
This week we will be reading the Wind in The Willows, based on the story by Kenneth Grahame.
We will be meeting Mole, Ratty, Badger and Toad and will share in their life adventures on the riverbank. There are woods to explore, adventures to have and friends to rescue from peril...
Our end of day story time:
This term we will be focusing on reading a book a week. The intension is to introduce the children to more 'meaty', content heavy books to extend their vocabulary, imagination and memory recall. We will read a chapter a day and by the end of the week, the children will be able to reflect on the whole story, re-telling it in their own words by Friday and sharing their thoughts and ideas about the story and characters.
Our book this week is the 'The Clumsy Crocodile'
When Cassy the clumsy crocodile gets a job at Everglades Department Store, she certainly makes things happen- but not in the way she hopes. Toys, food, china... she leaves a trail of destruction behind her in every department she visits. But in the end, Cassy's clumsiness saves the day and turns her into a hero.
