Safeguarding and Child Protection (also see online safety)

Safeguarding overview.

Child Protection, Safer Recruitment, First Aid and Health & Safety is covered by this terminology.

Safeguarding is about keeping children safe at school. The person in charge of Safeguarding (the Senior Designated Lead Professional) is Sarah Disney, Deputy Headteacher supported by Julie Lillycrop, Headteacher.

All staff have regular training and reminders about keeping children safe and how to deal with any concerns we may have about their safety including concerns regarding radicalisation and extremism, furthermore safeguarding is discussed with parent helpers and visitors to the school who will be working with the children. Anyone who will be left alone with a child or group of children is required to have a DBS check.  Parents should be aware that if it appears to a member of the school staff that a child may have been abused, the school is required, as part of the Area Child Protection Procedures, to report their concern immediately.

Parents are encouraged to raise any concerns with Mrs Disney or Mrs Lillycrop. Better safe than sorry!

This statement tells you about health and safety in school, first aid procedures, how we ensure visitors are safeguarding trained and vetted, how we recruit staff, how we keep the site secure and much much more. Please have a read!

How do we teach children about safeguarding?

Operation Encompass.

Our school is taking part in a jointly run operation between Norfolk County Council, Norfolk Police and our school, called Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass has been set-up to help schools to provide support to children who have been present at incidents of domestic violence. We are keen to offer the best support possible to our pupils and we believe this is going to be extremely beneficial for all those involved. We know that children can potentially be significantly physically or emotionally harmed when they are involved in, present or witness to domestic violence.

The school will receive a confidential phone call from the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub before 9am on the morning after any domestic incident where a child at their school has been involved in, present or witness to domestic violence. Mrs Disney of myself cant hen decide how best to support the child.
