Welcome to Hawks!

 

What are we learning about in Hawks this year?
 
Autumn term
 
Literacy –
We are using the books of Roald Dahl to inspire our own stories, writing reports about UFOs, creating instructions to help us in everyday tasks, reading traditional stories such as Robin Hood and finishing with some Christmas poetry.
 
Our class topics are Invaders and Settlers particularly focusing on the Anglo Saxons and Space.
 
 
Spring term
 
Literacy –
We are looking at poetry in particular focusing on the Highway Man. We are also exploring stories from other cultures, writing explanation and information sheets and studying persuasive writing.
 
Our class topics will be Water and Keeping Healthy.
 
Summer term
 
Literacy –
We are learning about narrative in films, studying older literature we might not come across on a regular basis, exploring choral performance and enjoying learning through drama. 
 
Our class topic is Ancient Greeks. As part of this topic we will look at Ancient Greek Pottery on a visit to The Fitzwilliam Museum.  We will also look at Myths and Legends in detail, combining our Literacy with our topic.


Our Science themes this term will be based around the theme of 'Living Things'.
